INTERVIEWS Filip Djuricic plays football the way Anderlecht wants it: spectacular and attacking. "I feel great here. I give the fans what they want: attacking football. I want to launch my career again here."

Djuricic showed his skills in his first two matches at Anderlecht. "I was surprised the coach let me play after only three training session", said Djuricic. "I need time to adapt but there is a click with Defour and Praet. They understand what football is like. I never doubted about Anderlecht but I had my doubts about the competition. The Belgian league is a tough league. The match against KV Malines was an exhausting game."

Top contract at Benfica

The midfielder wants to launch his career again after a difficult period at Benfica. "I came in Lisbon as a big talent. I was twenty years old and heritated the number ten of Aimar and Rui Costa. I had a good contract there and I saw Lisbon as the first step towards the real top teams in Europe."

However, it went totally wrong at Benfica. "I arrived and I was astonished when I saw coach Jorge Jesus played in a 4-4-2 formation. It was clear I was the choice of the board, not of the coach. He didn't want me. He even put me in the attack, which is nothing for me."

Also two temporary transfers to Mainz and Southampton went wrong. "I had private problems at Mainz. Southampton was better. I played nine matches, despite being injured for two months. However, I couldn't stay there because of problems between Benfica and Southampton."

Attacking and spectacular

The kind of football they play at Anderlecht suits Djuricic very well. "I feel positive vibes from the fans when I am in ball possession. It's easier when the fans like you. I am trying to give them what they want."

The Serbian also is not afraid to give his opinion. "Sometimes I see things that others don't see, so it's my duty to say it. As team mates, you have to work together, no matter what age you have."

Filip Djuricic is not active on social media. "I keep myself low profile. Facebook or Twitter are for people who like to show themselves to the world. I am not like that. Nobody cares about what I am eating, I am only interested in football."
