Anderlecht started uncertain after three defeats in a row, and Arsenal were the best team in the first period. However, it was Jorn Vancamp who opened the score for Anderlecht with a header.

Dodi Lukebakio missed the opportunity to make the second goal but once again Jorn Vancamp did not hesitate a few minutes later: the ball went into the goal via the post and 2-0 was the score at half-time.

Arsenal tried to put more pressure in the second half, but in vain. Anderlecht were the best team and failed to score a third goal. The Mauves earned a deserved qualification against Arsenal.
