"Anderlecht belongs to the past for Suarez"

TRANSFERS - INTERVIEWS Matias Suarez has rejected a transfer to FC Nantes, but it seems unlikely that we will ever see him again in an Anderlecht shirt. The board wants the striker to leave, given his high salary, and River Plate seem to be interested.

Suarez' rejection for Nantes is rather strange. The Anderlecht board reached an agreement with Nantes but Suarez did not want to sign, despite several contacts with Guillaume Gillet the past few days.

"I talked to Matias last Friday", reacts Gillet. "He said he is physically alright and is feeling well. I think he is up for a new challenge and Anderlecht belongs to the past for him."
