Anderlecht took the lead yesterday after a victory on the field of Genk and the loss of points of Brugge vs. Beerschot. Genk were better throughout the whole game, but Anderlecht proved once more to deadly efficient.

The first half saw sloppy football of both sides. Genk put some pressure on Anderlecht and came close to a goal. A free kick deflected in the wall and was pushed on the post by Proto. Kouyate was on time to block the rebound. The best chance for Anderlecht was a header of Gillet, saved spectaculary by Koteles.

In the second half, the game became more exciting. Genk the opportunity to beat Anderlecht and showed their offensive intentions especially via Benteke. But the striker failed to score also thanks to a few good saves of Proto. Kljestan tested Koteles on the other side and around minute 70, Mbokani scored with a header.

Genk tried to equalise, but forgot to play football. The attacks were not coordinated and the Mauves easily held their lead until the end.
