Suarez: "I don’t see Jovanovic as a rival”

Just as Matias Suarez seemed to be sure of a place in the A-team, Jovanovic arrives. But Mati doesn’t see it like that: “We need someone like Jovanovic.”

"Jovanovic has so many qualities and tons of experience. I’m convinced he is what we need,” says Suarez in HLN. “Being so fast he can hurt a lot of players. I’m not saying anything negative about our strikers, but we can use him very well.”

Suarez refuses to believe that he’ll have to make room for Jova. “In our team, we only have healthy competition. De coach decides who plays. I’ve grown, not only physically, but also mentally. This has to allow me to play at my best.”

During the preparation Suarez talked about Jacobs’ style in the press. “In Faro I had a great talk with the coach. Now I can focus again on the game. I’ve never felt so good here. Also a transfer isn’t on my mind anymore.”
