Hugo Broos wasn't afraid of Benfica before the draw, and he didn't back down after it either. "With the Portugese topteam we did draw a big shot.'

"Still, I prefer playing against Benfica Lisbon instead of an unknown team like Shaktar Donetsk. I see Benfica as a team we can beat, though there were much weaker opponents of course. It's not Anderlecht that had bad luck with the draw, but Benfica", he was confident.

Mbo Mpenza spoke to the Anderlecht-public with a bit of a shy voice on the fan day. The new favorite of the public already played in Portugal, and he also gives Anderlecht a chance to win. "We have to beat Benfica. With the support of the Anderlecht-public we have a chance to win. I'm convinced we can make it to the Champions League."

Chairman Roger Vanden Stock wanted to avoid Benfica Lisbon. "The Portugese team was the strongest team we could draw. We had expected a weaker team, but I believe we have chances against them. The second match is in Brussels, and that's important. We showed great football in our own stadium previously. If we had to play the second match in a big stadium like that in Lisbon, that would be a serious disadvantage."
