"We have to play more consistently"

TRANSFERS - INTERVIEWS Olivier Deschacht and Silvio Proto asked for urgent reinforcements of the team, but manager Herman Van Holsbeeck refuses to take that advice. He saw some great performances in the first season half and cannot understand why the team cannot play more consistently.

"It is true there might be an unbalance between youngsters and experienced players in the team. But against Tottenham, Monaco and Club Bruges we showed what we were made of. We played very impressive against Club Bruges, why do we get in trouble against Westerlo only one week after?"

"I will have a word with some players. Of course we have more chance of winning the championship title if we get Messi or Ronaldo, but we cannot keep signing new players. The players should not point at the board: they are playing, we are managing the team. Our squad is not worse than the opponents. And if Proto doesn't understand why Gillet left, I will be happy to explain him."

The players and the fans should not count on more new signings. "Only a right defender who is really an asset might still be an option, but that is very unlikely. Galhardo will probably be our only new player in this transfer period", Van Holsbeeck states.
