TRANSFERS Anthony Vanden Borre has been banned to the reserves. The club asked his managers to start looking for another club for the player. Meanwhile, Anderlecht started looking for a replacement. Gregoire Puel, a 23 year old Frenchmen, is one of the possibilities.

Vanden Borre returned to Anderlecht in 2013 where he had to start at a minimum wage. The player, who had already been playing for Anderlecht earlier, had become unwanted for his club Racing Genk due to lack of motivation. The Mauves decided to give him a second chance and after six months of training, the defender made his comeback in the first team of Anderlecht. After an excellent performance in the playoffs, he was rewarded by federal coach Wilmots with a place in the Belgian selection for the World Cup in Brazil. During the last match of the group phase, he broke his ankle.

After a recovery, he played an excellent Champions League campaign with Anderlecht last season. But from then on, it went down hill. The player seemed to have lost motivation and good mentality again. In July, manager Van Holsbeeck already warned Vanden Borre about an imminent exit after a few appaling performances, but the player did not seem to care. Against Oostende, he was not even in the selection anymore (officially due to sickness).

Today he has been sent to the reserve team and he received the news there is no more room for him in Anderlecht.
