Anderlecht will return from Spain with an excellent result. The Mauves gave away a 0-1 lead, but stood strong after the equaliser. In an exiting game, both clubs proved to be equally good, resulting in the logical 1-1 draw.

The home side took the best start and dominated, but the Anderlecht defence did not give away any chances. Slowly but surely, the midfield of the visitors even took control over the match. Boussoufa, Legear and Lukaku had a few chances, but it was eventually Biglia who opened the score on a counter attack. Lukaku proved to be stronger than his defender on the flank. His effort was saved, but Biglia scored in the rebound.

Bilbao did not have an appropriate reaction. The only had one good chance, just seconds before the end of the first half.

The second half started at high pace, with the Bask team pushing forward. Anderlecht defended well and was lurking on the counter attack. Though eventually the team from the Primera Division equalised. An effort from outside the box was missed by everyone and was pushed against the net at the second post.

Anderlecht didn't seem to be impressed and Lukaku had an excellent chance, but his effort missed the post for inches. The home team dominated though, but thanks to a well organised Anderlecht, they didn't come close to the winning goal. The score remained 1-1.
