Anderlecht and the municipality reached an agreement about the enlargement of the Vanden Stock Stadium. The Mauves are allowed to build an extra ring on top of the stadium, increasing the capacity to 30,000 seats.

The construction works begin in 2011 and will be finished two years later. Further, the club will look for a solution for the parking problem and will build a multi functional sports hall. The club will finance the project on its own. The city of Brussels will not contribute.

Sporting Anderlecht wanted to expand the stadium to 40,000 seats, but that project didn't pass the city council. Instead, a compromise was found.

According to chairman Vanden Stock, it's a big day for Anderlecht: "These are historic days. By transforming the club into a limited liability company, we can finance these projects. If Belgium would organise the World Cup in 2018, we can still move to a new stadium."

Manager Van Holsbeeck: "Our stadium will soon offer more comfort to the fans. It will look a bit like the Allianz Arena of Bayern Munich. Only smaller."
