Anderlecht to take lead after victory in Genk

Anderlecht took the lead in the league this evening after a 0-2 victory in Genk. Mazuch and Lukaku scored the two goals. The victory was deserved for Anderlecht, that played very mature.


Genk took the best start with a few efforts from outside the box. But then Anderlecht took over. Suarez had a good chance, but it was Mazuch who scored the opening goal later on in the game. Van Damme headed a corner kick on the cross bar and Mazuch scored the rebound with a hard shot.

Anderlecht stayed in control and easily defended the lead. Only by the end of the game, Genk came close to an equaliser, but it was Lukaku who decided the game on a counter attack in stoppage time.

There were also a lot of scouts present. Roda JC, PSV, AZ, Twente, Heerenveen, Vitesse, Al. Aachen, FC Köln, Borussia Mönchengladbach, VFB Stuttgart, Arsenal, Fulham, Celtic, Monaco, PSG, Tours, Le Mans, Fiorentina, Udinese and Verona all sent a representative to the Cristal Arena.
