Despite the eight match ban and 250 euro fine imposed on Axel Witsel, Anderlecht defender Wasilewski and his legal counsel have decided to go to civil court to ask for indemnities.

Lawyers Spreutels and Deleu have been hired to look at helping the injured defender receive compensation for the injury caused by the Standard midfielder. "Wasilewski is going to claim an indemnity " said Deleu. "We are at the disposal of our player so that he can benefit from appropriate compensation if his injury does prove to be career-ending".

Chairman Roger Vanden Stock said: "I want to make peace with Standard, but at the same time it is necessary for me to look after the rights of a player who perhaps saw his career end that day. It is not about an attack against Standard, but if Marcin can never again play, he has the right to a compensation claim. Let us not forget that this is about the career of an international player! But this possible procedure is independent of our rivalry towards Standard... "
