Vercauteren: "Van Damme not correct"

Jelle Van Damme is injured at his ankle and wasn’t present at the Red Devils’ training this Wednesday. Van Damme wouldn’t have informed Franky Vercauteren and that bothers him a lot.

"We didn’t get any news from Van Damme and that’s not according to the agreements that have been made,” says Vercauteren in Het Nieuwsblad. “We’ll talk about this later, I don’t want to waste any energy. We need it for the game in Spain, that’s much more important.”

At Anderlecht they are surprised: “We’re a bit shocked by Vercauteren’s words,” says David Steegen. “Jelle Van Damme is injured and we agreed with the doctor of the national team that he would rehabilitate with us. All official papers are in possession of the federation.”
