Sporting Anderlecht lost 5-1 to Olympique Lyon at the Stade de Gerland on Wednesday in the Champions League play-offs. Anderlecht suffered the dominance of the home team in the first half and just underwent the game.

Midfielder Miralem Pjanic netted after 10 minutes before Lisandro Lopez fired home a penalty with 15 minutes gone. Bastos and Gomis then struck in a four-minute period just before half-time to virtually end the tie as a contest.

In the second half, Guillaume Gillet stayed in the changing room, he was replaced by Jonathan Legear. After sixty minutes of play, Matias Suarez scored in reply after a nice individual action: 4-1, but but Gomis ensured the joy were short-lived with his second of the game five minutes later. The home team had even more opportunities to increase their lead after that, but were not able to convert them.
