Anderlecht to increase stadium capacity

It has been decided: Anderlecht will enlarge their stadium by building a third floor on top of the current two. The capacity will increase with 8,000 seats up to almost 34,000.


Mayor of Anderlecht Gaëtan Van Goidsenhoven explains: "The club hasn't made a formal request yet, but I expect no further problems."

Meanwhile, technicians are looking into the plans. They have make sure the people living around the stadium won't experience more nuisance. It's also not sure yet how the current construction will support a third floor.

The club will finance all construction works itself. Manager Van Holsbeeck sees it as a temporary solution: "We have to increase our capacity to regain a place in the European subtop. Hopefully, we can play in a new multi-functional stadium by 2018 though."
