In a press conference, Nicolas Frutos blamed the medical staff of Anderlecht for this problems: "They never warned me about the consequences when I resumed playing too soon after being injured", he said.

"Sometimes the club forced me to play. I went to manager Van Holsbeeck and asked him to solve the problem. If not, I would end my career. That's when the club allowed me to return to Argentina to rehabilitate there."

"Everything should be better in the future. I'm not completely recovered, but I know that I'm a lot better than before", he concluded.

Doctor José Huylebroeck reacted strongly to the accusations: "It's a lie. I never forced Frutos to play. He even refused to see me now and then. He missed his appointments. I did examine his foot and his ankle, but Frutos never told me he was having pain while playing football."

The other doctor Kristof Sas also responds: "I'm glad Frutos didn't mention me. Though I'm also part of the medical staff. I admit that mistakes were made, but it's not a bad as he claims. I guess he's reacting in an emotional way."

General manager Van Holsbeeck seems to agree with that statement: "Frutos is frustrated after 18 months of misery. Now he's releasing all his frustrations, so his statement is probably emotionally loading. The most important thing is that he can focus on football again now."

Coach Ariel Jacobs is happy with the return of his striker: "He seems to be training well. He's ready to play I believe. He followed a personalised training schedule in Argentina and that was obviously a good idea."
