Last month, Aimé Antheunis said he was interested in the young right defender of Anderlecht, Anthony Vanden Borre, for the friendly match against Germany (3-0 defeat).

Eventually, he didn't call up the youngster, because he had only played two competition matches in Brussels then. Afterwards, he became a key player of the Mauves and he placed Michal Zewlakow on the bench.

"All reports on him were very positive", says the national coach. Olivier De Cock, of Club Bruges, was operated on Monday. He deserves this selection. Age isn't important, talent is what's the most important thing. His match against Standard (1-1) showed how much talent he's got." If the 16-year old Vanden Borre (20/10/1987) comes on the pitch on Wednesday, he will be the youngest Red Devil in history since Fernand Nisot (Léopold), who also was 16, but 19 days younger on the day he played with Belgium against France, 30 April 1911. Belgium lost then with an embarrassing 7-1 score.
