The Anderlecht players are all shocked after the death of François Sterchele of rival Club Brugge. "It's a shame the fans were hissing at him during his last game. If they only had known what was about to happen..." Gillet said.

Ariel Jacobs: "We had a bad training today. That's normal. For my players, Sterchele was more a friend than an opponent."

Luigi Pieroni spoke with Sterchele before the kick-off of Anderlecht-Club Brugge. "Look how hard the fans are going to hiss", he told me and he smiled. "He likes that kind of situations. He was a joyful person."

Also Olivier Deschacht was shocked: "Before I started my car's engine, I checked to make sure whether I was wearing my seat belt."

Jelle Van Damme scored against Brugge and celebrated his goal with the same gesture Sterchele always makes: "People thought it was provoking, but Sterchele himself found it very funny. We were friends, but we also play for another club. Accidents like these happen every day, but yesterday it happened to someone we all know."
