Deschacht denies Espanyol move

Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad reported that Espanyol Barcelona is in talks with Olivier Deschacht concerning a transfer. The leftback has claimed to be unaware of such a deal: "I'm not planning to leave Anderlecht."


According to the newspaper representatives of the Catalan club will travel to Belgium this weekend to negotiate with Deschacht. The leftback would fit the profile Espanyol, currently ranked 7th in the Primera Division, are looking for.

Deschacht lost his place in the starting line-up to Jelle Van Damme after injury kept him sidelined for a month. The leftback has denied a transfer is in the works, however: "I'm unaware of any such interest. I will look further into this but I'm not planning to leave Anderlecht," reacted Deschacht.
