Agreement over reformation of the highest division!

The first division clubs finally reached an agreement over a reformation of the league. In the season of 2009-2010, there will only be 16 clubs in the highest division. At the end, the 6 best will play for the prizes in a play-off


How the reformation will be organised is not yet clear. This will be discussed with the second division clubs.

With this agreement, the bigger clubs managed to persuade the smaller ones. Anderlecht and Standard already threatened to sell their TV rights seperately. By doing so, the smaller clubs would have earned less money and they finally gave in to the pressure.
